Diamond Earrings For Men

Earrings are a great gift for a man in the twenty first century – and not just a single one, as wearing a pair is now the latest trend. More and more men are copying the fashion started by women of wearing several different earrings in each ear. They are no longer the private domain of women in any culture.

Men have been wearing earrings throughout history and it was only during the 1900s that sadly fashion dictated they were no longer a unisex item, but something for female adornment.

Recently western men have begun to wear earrings again. This started with one hoop earring, but this has now extended to a variety of styles, including diamond studs in both ears. Eventually men will freely wear any type of earrings just as women do today.

The general rule seems to be that the older a man gets the more discreet his jewellery becomes, with celebrities like the distinguished musician Quincy Jones alternating between a small gold hoop or diamond stud in one ear. This is different for many women who believe that wearing big pieces of “bling” make them feel (and look younger!) The comedienne Joan Rivers and actress Elizabeth Taylor are prime examples of this.

Men who work in the creative and entertainment industries have always had the freedom to wear whatever they like; while those in some other professions are asked to remove earrings when they go to work. In America the National Basketball Association and many other sporting bodies prohibit their players from wearing jewellery of any kind. Luckily this does extend to their personal lives as otherwise athletes like Michael Jordan would not achieve their unique sense of style. In the UK it would extremely foolish for a rugby player to wear earrings which would certainly be ripped from his ears during a scrum.

Nowadays it does not matter what a man’s profession is. Men’s earrings cross all social boundaries as anyone can wear them. It is the self confidence that the wearer possesses which makes the difference between a man simply wearing earrings and a man who wears them well.
